FREE LIVE OUTDOOR BROADCAST
of Opening Concert at Peace Pavilion Sunday, Oct. 6

Symphony taps into the healing power of music to bring outdoor concert experience to a recovering community

The Greenville Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce there will be a free live outdoor broadcast of its highly anticipated opening weekend concert on Sunday, October 6 at the Peace Pavilion at the Peace Center. This special event comes as a symbol of resilience and community spirit in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

The free live outdoor broadcast will begin at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, featuring a live feed from the concert inside the Peace Center to an LED screen on the Peace Pavilion.  Attendees should bring chairs and blankets to Peace Pavilion at the Peace Center and space will be first come, first served. No registration is necessary. The GSO encourages everyone join in to experience the uplifting power of orchestral music.

The concert will feature Beethoven’s majestic Symphony No. 9 with guest choirs Bob Jones University Chorale, Furman Singers, North Greenville University Concert Choir and soloists Amanda Sheriff, Sara Crigger, Randall Umstead and Adrian Smith under the baton of Music Director Lee Mills. The decision to offer a free live outdoor broadcast aims to bring the uplifting power of music to everyone in the community, especially those affected by the recent hurricane, underscoring the Ninth Symphony’s statement of hope, joy, and unity.

You are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, or cushions with you for seating. Individually bottled water is also permitted. Please do not bring umbrellas, coolers, tailgate tents, or any four-legged friends (as much as we love them!). Of course, service animals for guests who have a disability are always welcome for Peace Center performances.

Collaboration with Grateful Brew: Autumn Lee's Latte

Opening Night: Beethoven’s Ninth and Red-Carpet Experience*

We join forces with three esteemed local collegiate choruses to present the monumental Ninth Symphony, famous for its “Ode to Joy” melody. This important concert marks a thrilling next chapter for our orchestra, promising an unforgettable evening dedicated to the power of collective harmony.
  • Pre-Concert Conversation: Free for concert ticketholders, one hour before the performance in Peace Concert Hall: Join Music Director Lee Mills, Executive Director Jessica Satava and special guests for an engaging exploration of the composer’s ideas, musical themes, and history of the music you’re about to hear.
